My name is Cal Cary and photojournalist with The Daily Progress in Charlottesville, Va. I have been a multi-media journalist for five years and I am originally from Northern Va. I have freelanced with the Washington Post and have done an assortment of stories in the Virginia, D.C. and Maryland areas. My passion for telling stories has been with me since grade school where I found my love for writing. As I grew older into college, I extended this enthusiasm into photography. This is when I knew I wanted to be in the media. There is an excitement I get about waking up each day knowing that what I see and what I do will be completely different from the day before. In my opinion, there is no occupation like it.

I graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2018 with a degree in photojournalism where I focused on story telling through still photography and video. Developing my work further after graduating, I started freelancing for the Washington Post. I had stories picked up by Associated Press and would also do contracted work from clients.
